Back To Home JUNIOR STAGE

The junior stage of your dog’s life is similar in many ways to a human teenager. Just like children, not all dogs mature at the same rate so you need to be aware that even though they might look like an adult on the outside, there may still be a cute little puppy on the inside.
While your junior dog is still growing up, they will behave like a youngster from time to time. They will probably become slightly rebellious and may even begin to ignore certain commands, despite the fact they were obedient as a puppy. Try to be firm but kind when they misbehave. Treat them with respect, and it will teach them to respect you and your family.

SO WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?

Just like us, bitches and dogs experience many bodily changes during their adolescent period. This can lead to many alterations in their behaviour such as becoming more boisterous and independent as they go through their teenage years.A female dog will have her first season at any time between six and eighteen months old and will be in season around three weeks. She will be at risk of getting pregnant at any time within these three weeks. Ensure you take special care that she is kept away from male dogs during these three weeks. Most females keep themselves clean during their season, but for hygiene reasons you may want to restrict her access from certain rooms in the house.
